Individuality & Design

What is the best compliment we could receive for our shoes? That we've put a lot of thought into them! The craft of shoemaking goes hand in hand with reflecting, thinking ahead, and thinking outside of the norm. Think! is an invitation to contemplate. To give thought to walking, going your own way. To consider a healthier way to move forward, step by step.

If you enter the world as one of a kind, you shouldn't have to live as a copy. That's why Think! shoes are a wonderful way to express your own individuality. Difference is what matters when everything else is alike. The unmistakable signature of Think! shoes is the marker of their unique character. It turns our creations into lifelong companions for people around the world who want to strike out on their own and who love unusual, exclusive, or crazy shoes with style.

Shoes for summer and winter, men's shoes and ladies' shoes: our favourite colour is all of them, our attitude is joyful, and what makes us happy is the feeling you get when wearing our shoes.

Welcome to our world. Think! Walk different!

Comfort & Healthiness

Health is our most important asset. And that's why we've made it a key component of our Think! shoe philosophy. It's true that your feet are the body part farthest from your head, but their needs are the most immediate. Comfortable shoes that are good for you not only give you the right stride and provide the right cushioning; they also promote circulation and good posture. Think! shoes help make cold, sore, and blistered feet a thing of the past.

What's the point of wearing beautiful shoes if they're too tight? We take care of your feet so that your feet enjoy the job they were created to do; with heels at a reasonable height, functional and anatomically shaped cuts, and high-quality materials. These details make Think! shoes comfortable, lightweight, and healthy companions for women and men.

It all comes down to the shoe last. The tip of the shoe needs to provide enough room for your toes. But Think! shoes also give muscles and tendons the room they need to work together in the complex way that they should. You shouldn't feel your shoes with every step you take. Quite the opposite, in fact. Feet that feel good in their shoes are feet that look good and are well cared for.

The insoles of close-toed Think! shoes, Think! boots, and Think! sandals with interchangeable insoles can be removed. If they get worn out, you can replace them with new insoles or with orthopaedic insoles.

Naturalness & Sustainability

Nature is our ally. Living in harmony with nature means using its resources carefully. In our connected world, our actions have a direct and indirect impact on the lives and well-being of many people. We don't want to trample on nature. This is our way of coming clean with it.

Naturalness & Sustainability Image 1Leather is our life. That's why we treat this material with unique properties as naturally as possible. We especially like to work with vegetable-tanned leather, in other words, "chrome-free" leather. The dyes used in tanning come from ground bark extracts. Although leather tanned using plant-based dyes is more expensive to manufacture and more difficult to work with, it is breathable, skin-friendly, moisture-absorbing, and free of pollutants, and it can be worn by people who are allergic to chromium. Our leathers are tanned in Germany and Italy.

Protecting the future of our environment means treating our environment with care in the present. Think! does more than just pay lip-service to the sustainable use of natural resources and social responsibility; these objectives are our strong beliefs, and we live according to them. Short transport distances, natural materials, fair production of our handmade shoes in Europe, and environmentally friendly processing mean that we don't take more from the environment than we are able to give back to it.

Think! shoes are simply sustainable! Sustainability also means that Think! shoes can be repaired and, at the end of their long life, recycled.

Naturalness & Sustainability Image 2At Think!, we consider the advancement of our sustainability standards a daily challenge for us to tackle. That is why we're especially delighted that the black lace-up model of our Think! Chilli shoes were awarded the Austrian Ecolabel in 2015, the first shoes ever to earn this honour. Every component, every supplier, and every partner company was audited based on the Ecolabel criteria.

Naturalness & Sustainability Image 3Think! supports Oberösterreichische Lebenshilfe, an organisation in Upper Austria that helps people with intellectual and other disabilities. At two of the workshops it operates, people with disabilities manufacture shoehorns and shoe creams with a love of detail. To us, being human also means loving life and living a life of love.

Origin & Handicraft

The Sauwald forest is located in the Innviertel region of the western part of Upper Austria, where the hills and forests of the Bohemian Massif extend to Austria's border with Bavaria. The craft of shoemaking has a long tradition here, as it does in the community of Kopfing, where Martin Koller, the descendant of a 200 year old shoemaking dynasty, wasn't willing to accept that "shoes that are good for you are so dreadfully ugly".

His strong will to change this and create unique and environmentally friendly shoes with a perfect fit kept him up at night until the first Think! shoes left his workshop in 1990.

Today, Kopfing is the company's source of inspiration and its "Think! tank". Our shoes are manufactured by highly trained leather workers exclusively at our partner companies in Bosnia, Italy, Hungary, and Romania. It takes up to 200 steps – nearly all of which are completed by hand – to transform passion, leather, and other natural materials into a Think! shoe. In the tradition of experienced master shoemakers, we rely unconditionally on tradition and release only shoes that meet the highest of standards. Think! shoes are good for your feet and made by hand.

Europe is more than a production site – it's a point of view. Short transport distances and flexible, fair production offset the higher costs associated with manufacturing shoes in Europe. In the interests of sustainable production, it is important that our partner companies meet environmental and social standards, and they are regularly audited.
